WEEKEND WORKSHOP
FOR PETS

Limited to 12 handlers; unlimited spectators (auditors). 

Cost is $200 per handler and $100 per spectator (auditor).

Includes lunch & tea/coffee/biscuits throughout both days

 

This WEEKEND seminar is specifically for family pets and covers:

How to get your dog to respond to his name

How to get your dog to come when called

How to greet visitors nicely

How to find things in a fun way

Learning patience (impulse control)

How to teach your dog to focus on you

How to walk nicely on leash

Having fun with your dog (games)

The importance of play and (if necessary) how to get your dog to play

SCENT WORKSHOP
Sunday May 10, 2015
 

Limited to 12 handlers.  audit spots unlimited.

Cost is $85 per handler and $45 per audit spot.

Lunch and tea/coffee/biscuits throughout the day provided.

 

Teaching Utility Scent the "AXELAN WAY"

 

This is a proven method of training scent that both dogs and handlers love - people have been amazed how fun and easy it is to get a happy, confident scent from their dog.

 

You cannot teach a dog anything about scent discrimination but you can teach the dog to be confident and have fun doing this exercise.

 

Handlers please note:  As long as your dog can retrieve you can attend.

 

This is a one-day workshop where I will go through my method of teaching scent and handlers will have the opportunity to try it out to whatever stage their dog can cope with during the time given.

WORKSHOP

This is a one-day workshop with the following content:

 

  • using a clicker and the methods behind it

  • acclimatising your dog to the clicker

  • using a clicker for noise sensitive dogs

  • playing the clicker game

  • how to get your timing right

  • talking through the myths

  • different stages

  • Lots of opportunity to work your dog

 

This workshop will be at a weekend, date to be arranged

PROBLEM SOLVING DAY SURGERY

I will make myself available for a full day and you can buy an hour of my time to work through any specific problem(s) you have.

 

Cost is $50 an hour

 

It is your hour, so we can work on solving any problem(s) you are having with your dog - here are some examples:

* problems with family pet/puppy - no basic manners, no recall,

   won't listen etc.

* trialling in CKC Obedience or Rally - have a specific problem(s) with

    one or more of the exercises, attention problems, motivation

    problems etc.

 

Time from 9am (first appointment) to 6.30pm (last appointment) breaking for lunch for half an hour from 1 to 1.30pm.

RALLY 101  WEEKEND 
WORKSHOP
(CKC Rally)
May 16 & 17, 2015

You're in good hands.  Harley was the #1 Dog in Canada for CKC Rally during 2010 and I am an obedience trainer so you get the best of both.

Limited to 12 handlers; unlimited auditing spots

Lunch and tea/coffee/biscuits throughout each day provided.

 

Cost is $150 for the weekend or $80 for audit spots

 

Day 1:

  • working through the signs for Novice, Advanced and Excellent with explanations and demonstrations as required

  • attention and motivation

  • Jumps

  • Pivots

  • 3 Steps Backwards - how to start it and progress it

  • obedience support for the exercises

  • working through any specific problems (problem solving)

 

Dependant on the needs of the group, some of the work on signs may not be required.  If this is the case, it will give us more time to work on the other items, problem solving or rounds.

 

Day 2:

  • Follow up from day one - anything not covered + questions & answer session

  • The rest of the day will be spent on Novice, Advanced and Excellent CKC Rally Rounds (tiered).

  • Finish up with another question & answer session

 

This is a full weekend event on Saturday and Sunday May 16 & 17, 2015

COMPETITION PUPPY WORKSHOP

Specifically for puppies/young dogs who are destined for the competition ring (obedience or rally).

 

Cost is $90.  Lunch and tea/coffee/biscuits throughout the day provided

 

Concentrating on attention, motivation, building drive and play, using games into work, using tricks + starting the retrieve in a fun way.

 

Includes suggestions of what you should be doing at different stages of the puppy's training - all has progression to working in the ring.

RING READY 
WORKSHOP (Obedience)

Limited to 10 handlers

Cost:  $90 per handler

Lunch and tea/coffee/biscuits throughout the day provided.

 

HANDLERS PLEASE NOTE - YOUR DOG MUST KNOW ALL THE TESTS FOR YOUR ROUND TO ATTEND THIS SEMINAR

 

No time to massage anyone's ego on this one-day seminar which is all about exploding apart your round, identifying your basic weaknesses and getting you as ready for the ring as possible.

 

Content:

  • each handler will go through a round for the class they are working to see where they are "at"

  • as a group, identifying weaknesses of each round and deciding the format for the rest of the day (what will benefit the group most)

  • potentially working on generic problems (just a few examples):

          *attention

          *distractions and working through them

          *reinforcers - how to get the same behaviour with or without them

          *set-ups

          *motivation & play

          *better back-end movement (left turns)

          *stewards

  

PLEASE NOTE THAT APART FROM THE INITIAL ROUNDS, THE CONTENT OF THIS SEMINAR WILL BE TOTALLY CUSTOMISED TO THE NEEDS OF THE GROUP.

This one-day Seminar is all about you and your dog working as a team, proofing the exercises your dog already knows and putting the final polish to it all.

  • proofing the exercises

  • dealing with stewards and judges

  • turns & footwork (if appropriate)

  • working on better back-end movement

  • any other items agreed with the group

This workshop focuses totally on Novice and Pre-Novice Obedience.  So those attending could be getting ready for Pre-Novice or Novice, or actually working these classes at a show.

 

Content:

  • explanation of the class tests with demonstrations

  • training for the exercises

  • attention

  • motivation & the importance of play

  • named response and how this moves into your work

  • one minute of anything

  • reinforcers - what they are and how to use them

  • reinforcers - how to get the same behaviour wherever they are
